WOW. READ THIS BOOK...you will not be disappointed. Reading this book will give you an overview of many of the events that changed Canada. The authors are a who's who of great and interesting authors in a wide field that includes Adrienne Clarkson, Ken Dryden, Charlotte Gray, Peter Mansbridge, Peter C Newman. My favorite section is 1867-1929 with topics such as Confederation, the purchase of Rupert's Land, Treaty #7, the senseless bison slaughter, Louis Riel as madman or messiah. The excellent choice of pics makes the stories come alive.
If you were to explore further into an author or a specific event, then this book would be well worth reading.

This was compiled by Mark Reid - from the online journal Canada's History. It has significant contributors and is absolutely superb reading for information and enjoyment. The photos add to the short pieces.
