An excellent book featuring Revan, hero of the Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) video game. So there's a lot to this book which is very continuity-heavy. As a story, it stands on its own well but is even better when you've got more of the background and surrounding events under your belt. First of all, this is a sequel to KOTOR and KOTOR II: The Sith Lords. Divided into two parts, the first takes place two years after KOTOR, and the second takes place six months to a year or so after Sith Lords. This story gives part of Revan's fate as well as the fate of Meetra Surik (the Exile [PC] from KOTOR II). It explains how Canderous Ordo from the first game becomes the Mandalore you meet in the second game. It also serves as a prequel to the Old Republic (TOR) MMO. It reveals the origins of the Sith Emperor and Lord Scourge (companion for the Jedi Knight class). As I said, very continuity-heavy. The disappointment that the previous reviewer had comes from the fact that Revan features in TOR. For Revan, you have KOTOR, this novel, then a series of four TOR Flashpoints (two Imperial, then two Republic) and finally, the Shadow of Revan TOR expansion. That's why the novel ends on a semi-sour note, because it's essentially the middle of the story. Still, that said, it's a very good book and worth the read to discover the fate of Revan and Meetra after their respective games.

I read this after I played KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic) with high hopes of a great ending.
(Spoiler Alert)
I squealed when I found out that Revan was going to have a kid, but then he left and I couldn't sleep! I nearly threw my book (and phone, I tried it again and I couldn't finish it.) at a wall at the end when Revan gets captured just because his partner gave up. I was very upset with how this ended.
(End Spoiler Alert)
I loved the book, I just hated how my Star Wars hero's legacy came to an end like that.
