Random House, Inc. THE NO. 1 LADIES DETECTIVE AGENCY. FOR ALL CONFIDENTIAL MATTERS AND ENQUIRIES. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED FOR ALL PARTIES. UNDER PERSONAL MANAGEMENT.
A beguiling mystery and lyrical novel of Africa -- the fourth in a series that the L.A. Times calls “thoroughly engaging and entertaining.”
Now that The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency (the only detective agency for ladies and others in Botswana) is established, its founder, Precious Ramotswe, can look upon her life with pride: she’s reached her late thirties (“the finest age to be”), has a house, two children, a good fiancé -- Mr. J. L. B. Matekoni -- and many satisfied customers. But life is never without its problems. It turns out that her adopted son is responsible for the dead hoopoe bird in the garden; her assistant, Mma Makutsi, wants a husband and needs help with her idea to open the Kalahari Typing School for Men; yet Mma Ramotswe’s sexist rival has no trouble opening his Satisfaction Guaranteed Detective Agency across town. Will Precious Ramotswe’s delightfully cunning and profoundly moral methods save the day? Follow the continuing story of Botswana’s first lady detective in the irresistible The Kalahari Typing School for Men.
Precious Ramotswe encounters challenges with her foster children. Grace Makutsi begins a business and experiences romance. JLB finally lays to rest the orphanage pump...In other words, it is beautiful Botswana, and everyone will find the answers to their problems.

It felt really good to see Makutsi shine in this one! You go Makutsi! We're rooting for you!
The sherlock holmes-ing continue with Mme Ramotswe and her assistant, with a little romance too. Got to give credit to Mme Matsuti (sp?) for creating a new job opportunity for herself. Look forward to getting into next Book (#5). Recommend.
Once again Mma Ramotswe is back in great form as a traditionally built lady who tries to help people out. After consolidating their businesses to one location, Mma finds out through Mma Makutsi that there is going to be some tough talking competition in town. Soon she is deep in to solving two investigations that she doesn?t really want but feels compelled to take. Mma Makutsi is also in trouble, financially, and decides to open her own typing school with the help from her dear friends Mma Ramotswe and Mr. J.L.B Matekoni. Mma Ramotswe soon finds the solution to one of the investigations may be too close to home!
