Into the wilderness discusses wilderness and how much is left. Rusell Mittermeier of Conservation International assures us that by his definition the wilderness still covers 40% of the plantet. But is it enough to provide landscape for all animals but especially the large animals such as elephants? The question is "How much do we need and how fast is it disappearing"? The forests of Bialowieza are the last remaining forests and they are fast disapearing. What is threatening them? This film discusses human population size, small sizes of people, and corporations have an enormous impact on the planet. Why is this important and what does it do for us? James Lovelock and Jonathon Porritt tell us. Even where there are no people, much wilderness is changing because of climate change so how do we ensure our own survival and keep the wilderness areas? It seems we have to include humans in the picture.
