Book News
A unique and lovely new atlas (created by the Bertelsmann Cartographic Institute/GeoData) that combines digitized maps and dazzling satellite photographs. The up-to-date maps are colored naturalistically and according to ecological zones rather than altitude; altitudes are shown through shading and the use of graded colors within individual ecological zones. The atlas shows the entire world in a single scale of 1:4.5 million for accurate representation of relative sizes of various places. An additional 64 pages of maps, tailored for a US and Canadian readership, are scaled at 1:2.25 million showing details of each state and province of the US and southern Canada. Detailed road information makes the atlas suitable for travelers as well as researchers and map lovers. 10.5x13.75" Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
