It's difficult to read this book because steroid usage wasn't known at the time it was written. The book follows a season with David Cone, after winning 20 games in the previous season. Cone became the first pitcher to have 10 years between 20 game winning seasons (red flag?). Cone had a pretty colourful season in MLB, but a lot of it is only mentioned in passing: drug use on the 1985 KC Royals, partying with the 1989 Mets, 1994 players strike and the steroid era. Hopefully the next book about Cone will get into more of the ugly details and fall-out.
