Heijden presents the dissertation for his 2013 PhD in social geography at the Technical University of Delft, where he teaches and conducts research on architecture and the built environment with a focus on housing. In order to fuel the academic debate on international comparative research into housing, he provides deeper insight into methodology and assesses the viability of existing theories as a framework for analyzing similarities and differences in the development of housing systems in Western Europe. Among his perspectives are the role of politics in housing policy in seven European countries, the private rental sector since World War II, the impact of the international financial crisis, and competition and non-profits. He has not indexed his work. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
