The basis of this book is a 2010 symposium held in Geneva and organized jointly by the American Society of International Law (ASIL), the European Society of International Law (ESIL), the Latin American Society of International Law (LASIL, and the faculty of law at the U. of Geneva, Switzerland, and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID). Introductory and concluding observations are provided by editors Boisson de Chazournes (U. of Geneva) and Kohen and Viñales (IHEID). Sixteen contributions address the following broad themes: interaction at the initiation of a dispute settlement procedure, interaction during the proceedings before an international court or tribunal, interactions at the implementation stage, and perspectives on the interaction between diplomatic and judicial means.
