The Treaty of Versailles, signed on June 28, 1919, ended World War I. The treaty placed limits on Germany's military, both in terms of number troops allowed and equipment. Under the treaty, Germany was forced to destroy all of the planes used in the air force. Germany and Austria were also forced to pay reparations.
