During the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, eight activists (who later became known as the "Chicago Eight") led protests that culminated in a riot. At a press conference, Rennie Davis, one of the Chicago Eight, accused Chicago mayor Richard Daley of using "police state tactics" in seeking to control the protests.
