I loved this book. It's not perfect, and my second paragraph contains spoilers, as I discuss the flaws. But it is a well-plotted mystery, with well developed, mostly likable characters.
Spoiler alert -about to discuss important plot points.
A good defense attorney couldhave easily discredited the two hostile witnesses who sent her to prison.
The biological mother was caught in the same trap many women fall into. It's not usually because they are bad mothers or greedy, but frequently is because many women's choices are limited.
The stepfather was written off too easily as a bad, evil man. It's rarely that simple. These men frequently have their own, untreated mental health issues. Which is not to excuse or forgive his actions.
But this is a very widespread problem that is going untreated because so much guilt and shame is attached to EVERYONE in this situation.
This problem needs much, much more attention, and stigmatizing those in this situation doesn't help,

What a sad, depressing book, I didn't want to finish it.

This book fits neatly into the post Gone Girl suburban thriller genre, with plot twists and surprises... At least it's trying for surprise. In truth this book is fairly predictable and would greatly benefit from some editing. My rating for this book would definitely go up if it were 100 pages shorter. It's a fine shallow read, but don't expect to be blown away.

I really liked the short chapters in this book and how it went from one character to another. It made for a short and compelling read.

This novel was a very quick read that was good, but not great. The characters were not very complex. Certainly not missing much if you pass this one up.

Though the mystery doesn't surface until close to the end, the story was completely absorbing. The story is told from the view point of several characters, which adds to the mystery, since there's some doubt as to who's telling the truth. I read it quickly - partly because it was a Fast Read. Great reading if you're on a long plane ride or at poolside.

I enjoyed this book, it truly was a page turner. In the end however, I was really disappointed about who the killer turned out to be.

When English piano prodigy Zoe was 14, she was involved in an accident that killed three classmates. Trying to start over after she serves time, she gets a second chance at 17 when she and her mother, Maria, move to Bristol and Maria remarries. But when Zoe's past comes to light in a very public manner, Maria ends up dead. Unfolding over the course of 24 hours, The Perfect Girl is told from multiple perspectives, including Zoe, her stepbrother, and her stepdad -- both of whom have secrets of their own -- as well as the lawyer who originally defended Zoe. While "who killed Maria?" is definitely the center of the story, it's also a twisty contemplation of justice.

Very enjoyable book - liked the story being told from different voices. Once I got started it was hard to put down, well worth the time.
