Twenty years after a wealthy British financier disappears near the site of a lost fabled city, the man's daughter leads an expedition of scientists in search of the city, which harbors a powerful but dangerous energy source with the potential to both fuel and destroy the planet. Reprint.

HARPERCOLL

An inexplicable explosion rocks the antiquities collection of a London museum, setting off alarms in clandestine organizations around the world. And now the search for answers is leading Lady Kara Kensington; her friend Safia al-Maaz, the gallery's brilliant and beautiful curator; and their guide, the international adventurer Omaha Dunn, into a world they never dreamed existed: a lost city buried beneath the Arabian desert. But others are being drawn there as well, some with dark and sinister purposes. And the many perils of a death-defying trek deep into the savage heart of the Arabian Peninsula pale before the nightmare waiting to be unearthed at journey's end: an ageless and awesome power that could create a utopia . . . or destroy everything humankind has built over countless millennia.

This is the first book in one of my favorite series, Sigma Force. It combines many of my favorite themes: action, adventure, science, and history.

Excellent book! Lot's of action and intrigue. Interesting archaeology, fun scientific ideas, and up-to-date technology involved in the plot. A real thriller! Ought to be made into movie.

My kind of story... conspiracies, hidden societies, hi tech gadgets and action, buried cities, untapped resource of power, bloodlines, etc. A total page turner that has definitely satisfied my creative imagination!

James Rollins "Sandstorm" is a good page-turner! Plan to read his other publications, well worth it.

decent read.. a lot of far fetched ideas that all got mushed in together to make the story... some good characters introduced for possible other stories... Painter and Omaha...

Violence: The book is about a special ops team. Lots of killing and graphic violence.

Coarse Language: Some "F words" and other mild swearing. More than any other Sigma Force book, but still not much.
