This is an autobiographical account of a young woman who spent time, during the 1930s, teaching and nursing in a B.C. native community on a small island near the coastal town of Alert Bay. Since then the village has been abandoned, and so this serves as a unique historical snapshot of life there at that time.

A beautifully written autobiographical account of teaching and nursing in a native community near Alert Bay in the thirties. Most enjoyable, with some wonderful photographs.
