Louise Rick is beginning a new job after being in homicide for years. Missing persons can lead to murder investigations and she is the ideal candidate for this new position. The story of missing twins, murder and mental institutions is a good framework but the execution leaves a bit to be desired. Some of the problem may have been the translation. Some of the vocabulary did not seem to fit the image of Rick that I thought the author was trying to build. I found the story flat and the personal bits about Rick confusing and sometimes intrusive into the flow of the narrative. The sudden dalliance with her new partner did not ring true at all for me. I kept reading to the end, though, to find out if my own suspicions about what actually happened were correct. Yes, I was right.
